Glen Flanagan Wins First Title of The Season

For the first time in a long time weather was not part of our story. Today was a great day to be playing golf. We're sorry that many of you couldn't make it. Blackstone Golf Club in in great shape. The greens are rolling true and fairly fast which was just what the doctor ordered.

Glen was striking the ball well today but it was definately his putter that was saved his bacon more than once. Glen sank several putts of more than fifteen feet to save par or bogey and on the 8th hole he was really fortunate. His tee shot on the par 3, 8th hole left him just off the putting surface on the left side of the green. The pin was located on the front right about 35 to 40 feet away.

Glen admitts to just trying to get the ball close to save par but the putt seemed to have eyes only for the hole. The putt broke 3 to 4 feet from left to right and fell into the side of the cup for a birdie. On the ninth hole he managed a bogie thanks to him sinking a putt from about 20 feet,

Glen tried to get the tournament away on the back side starting with a double bogie on the 10th and double par, as Glen likes to call it, on the 14th hole. He did manage to right the ship long enough though to hold on for a three shot win over 2 time champion Jeff Vidlak to earn his first victory of the season.
