Tom Collins Wins Tamarack Challenge By Six Shots!

The day started out with a delay because of the storms but it didn't affect Tom Collins any. He vaulted out to a huge lead on the from nine shooting a net 26 for his first nine holes. That is a new nine hole record for the lowest net score on America's Golf Tour. Prior to the round he told me that he hurt his wrist in the last tournament and that he wasn't sure if he would be able to complete the round since he hadn't played in a while. I guess that we should all hurt our wrist if this is the outcome we could expect.

Tom just took an easy swing and kept the ball in play which is a great part of playing Tamarack with water on every hole. He saved par several times through the first 7 holes and then he made about a 40 foot down hill putt on the 8trh hole to birdie. He gave it right back with a bogey on the 9th and then the wheels came off the bus.

On the back nine he came quickly back to the field going triple bogey, triple bogey, other to give everyone in the field a small glimmer of hope. However no one was able to mount a charge and thus everyone was playing for second place. With his double par on 16 Tom felt that he might have lost the tournament there, being 18 over on the back nine knowing that he had some great players in the group ahead of him. The victory earned Tom and exempt entry into the Prairire Landing Championship and a membership exemption through the 2012 season.
