Vidlak Wins Prairie Landing Championship
Father's Day weekend came in like a lion with two lines of thunderstones with heavy rain and lots of wind. Waking up on Saturday was a totally different story with sunny skies and harly a cloud in the sky. As the day went on however the wind came back and made Prairie Landing even more difficult that usual playing 2 to 3 clubs longer on shots into the wind.
Many towns in the area are without power and that included our tournament at Prairie Landing. Thankfully the carts made it through the entire round but we were worried. Prairie Landing was without power since 4pm on Friday which means their carts didn't get a full charge last night. Even though the power was out, the course was in good shape and and the greens were rolling well.
Jeff Vidlak has said in the past that he in not a fan of Robert Trent Jones courses because of the tiered greens that they usually have but I think that he is beginning to like them now. Last year in June Jeff was the Champion at our two day tournament there last year. Then again in the fall last year he tied for 4th so I think that Jeff is beginning to like at least this Robert Trant Jones course.
In his last four rounds Jeff has a combined net 10 over par and has two wins and a fourth. I believe that he has had this success because Jeff's ball flight is typically a low ball flight which gives him a huge advantage over the rest of us in the wind. Robert Stevenson also seems to like Prairie Landing since in his first tournament he was able to get around this windy course in a net one over par to take second place.

What a great day Saturday was and we hope that we'll see many of you on Father's Day Sunday at Bowes Creek Country Club for our 1 Shot Golf Challenge. We wish all of the Father's following us, a great day on Sunday. We hope that you all get to knock it around and then go to a cookout, spending the rest of the day with family possibly watching Dustin Johnson at the US Open.
